Beyond: The Sacred Journey

Spiritual teachers of all places and times have been assuring humans that we are much more than what we can perceive through our five senses, that there is much “beyond” the physical world—there is the metaphysical dimension.

It often happens that through study of the Alexander Technique, a student will get in touch with such pleasure of being in a bodymind that moves freely and easily, without pain and tension, that a kind of euphoria results. Sometimes this will spill over into a realization that there is much more to them than how they have been living.

In such cases, the student may be curious about this other work that I do—this “beyond”— and want to probe more deeply into the riches of their own interior world. In such cases I offer several tools for this sacred journey into their own divine depths.

Although the common term for this role I play is “spiritual director,” I prefer to simply be a guide—someone who shares some of her experience with the intention of encouraging and supporting the Seeker on their own voyage of self-discovery. I, too, am a Seeker—never expecting to “arrive” but always becoming—and would not presume to overstep into the bounds of another’s Authentic Self. I believe everyone has their own Inner Guide, a Voice of Wisdom, that is connected to the Divine and is simply waiting to be acknowledged and nurtured into revealing its own Truth.

Sacred Journey sessions offer an opportunity for the most in-depth journeying into the Unknown Self, supported and surrounded by Divine Love.

“You enter the forest
at the darkest point,
where there is no path.

Where there is a way or path,
it is someone else's path.

You are not on your own path.

If you follow someone else's way,
you are not going to realize
your potential.”

Tools for the Journey

Energy Work

Balancing and clearing a person’s energy field often has a restorative and revelatory effect not achieved by other means. Energy work can open whole new realms of experience and lead to a greater sense of the Divine in all things. My training has been in Healing Touch© and the work of Barbara Brennan. I approach this work with the assumption that your True Self already knows what you need for your healing journey. Therefore, I guide but do not “prescribe."

Sessions in energy work allow you to be relaxed and receptive, participating as actively or passively as you wish. At the very least, you leave refreshed and renewed, and many times healing on the physical, emotional, mental or spiritual level happens as well.

The gift of healing rests within everyone. It is not a gift given only to a few. It is your birthright as much as it is mine. Everyone can receive healing, and everyone can learn to heal. Everyone can give healing to themselves and to others.

Archetypes/Stories/Myths/Dreams

Stories of all types shape our lives, but mostly we are unaware of them. Discovering your formative stories is crucial to knowing your True Self. Your stories can come from ones you’ve heard from others, myths of the great cultures of the world, and your own dreams. Often these stories reveal archetypal patterns that are operating in your life. I often use what Jung called “active imagination” to help people discover the Inner Truth that is being revealed through images from these sources.

Finding Your Voice

The human voice is at once a physical instrument and a metaphor for your True Self. My experience teaching voice and the Alexander Technique allows me to guide you into finding greater vocal expression for singing and speaking as well as speaking your deepest Truth—about yourself and your relationship to others and the world around you. In speaking this Truth, you find peace and freedom to be who you truly are.
